(NEW) Pace of Play (All in a picture…)

Recommended guidelines for improving the Pace of Play.

*Play Ready Golf

*Move to the next hole first, score/clean equipment later

*Limit Time on the Tee

Encourage players to hit when ready, rather than strictly adhering to the honor system.

Set a maximum time for players to take their shots, typically around 40 seconds for a shot.

*Move to the next hole first, score/clean equipment later

Do a lot of the things at the next hole. Instead of right after the hole, where everyone including the flight behind is waiting, you can do the following at the next hole:

  • Clean clubs
  • Clean balls
  • Write scores down
  • Put clubs into the bag when buggy-mate is ready to go

Do all these at the next hole.

*Keep Moving

Players should be ready to move to their next shot or hole as soon as it's their turn.

*Use Carts Efficiently

*Practice Short Game Off the Course

*Practice Short Game Off the Course

If using golf carts, players should drive to their ball and then walk to their partner's ball if it’s in the same direction, rather than returning to the cart.

*Stay Aware of the Group Behind

Play in groups of 4 or less to help maintain flow on the course.

If a group is consistently waiting, consider allowing them to play through.

A helpful rule of thumb to gauge your pace is to ensure you maintain good visual contact with the group ahead at all times.
